Troubleshooting
GPS Not Working
Use this page when OMN4 cannot show your position, the GPS marker does not appear, or the position looks inaccurate.
Check Location Permission
- Check that system location services are turned on for the device.
- Check that OMN4 is allowed to use location.
- If the device offers a precise-location option, allow precise location when you need accurate outdoor positioning.
- Return to OMN4 and turn GPS on from the map screen.
What to expect: OMN4 may take a short time to get the first usable fix, especially after the device has moved a long way or has been indoors.
Check The Environment
GPS accuracy depends on the device and surroundings.
- Move outdoors or closer to an open view of the sky.
- Wait for the first fix to settle.
- Remember that buildings, trees, steep ground, and weather can affect accuracy.
- Check that you are not looking at an old position from before GPS restarted.
Android Tracklog And Battery Checks
On Android, battery optimisation and background restrictions can interfere with longer GPS use and track recording.
- Open Settings > GPS.
- Follow any OMN4 battery guidance shown there.
- Check the Android system battery settings for OMN4 if background tracklogs stop or produce straight sections.
- Keep OMN4 open while testing whether the issue is foreground-only or background-related.
The GPS Marker settings section is for marker appearance on mobile. It does not grant location permission.
If The GPS Marker Appears But Feels Wrong
- Wait for the accuracy ring to shrink.
- Use the GPS control again if you have moved the map away from your position.
- Check whether the map is still moving with you.
- Compare with the device's own location state if OMN4 continues to look wrong.
OMN4 mobile is the main GPS workflow. Desktop use is better treated as planning and review.
