GPS and Tracklogs
GPS Permissions
Your phone or tablet controls whether OMN4 can access its location. Ordinary map GPS needs access while you use the app. Starting or resuming a tracklog needs background access so recording can continue with the screen off or another app open.

- GPS Permissions on iOS — iPhone and iPad permission prompts, Always access, and Precise Location.
- GPS Permissions on Android — Allow all the time, precise location, and battery restrictions.
Which Permission Do I Need?

OMN4 checks background access before starting or resuming a tracklog, even if you plan to keep the screen on. If permission is missing, follow the prompt to grant access or open the device settings.
Turning on GPS does not start a tracklog. See GPS Button for its states and tap actions, or Start a Tracklog to record your journey.
GPS and recording are mobile features. Windows and macOS can review tracks recorded on mobile.
