Edit a Route

Use Route editing when you need to correct, extend, reorganise, or restyle an existing Route.

Open The Route

Open Routes, Tracks & Waypoints.
Find the Route in your library.
Open Properties... to change its details, Activity, or appearance.

Other actions include Move..., Reverse, Continue Route on desktop, and Edit Mode for changing the line on the map.

Choose An Activity

In Properties, choose an Activity from Favourites or its category. The Activity supplies the Route's calculation assumptions and appearance values.

Changing Activity does not remove the Route's custom appearance values. Properties rebuilds immediately so you can see which values now come from the new Activity.

Change Appearance

Each property shows one of two sources:

from Activity follows the selected Activity
custom belongs to this Route

Choose a value to make it custom. Use Reset beside one property to return it to the Activity value immediately. Use Reset appearance to reset every appearance property without changing Activity.

To hide the Route's point symbols, open Symbol and choose No symbol. This is a custom choice; reset it when the Route should follow its Activity's symbol again.

Points With Their Own Symbol

A route point can have its own symbol or label settings, set in that point's Properties. A point's own value wins over the Route's, so changing the Route's symbol does not change that point.

When some points have their own values, the Route's Properties says how many and offers Make all points follow the route. Choose it to remove those points' own symbol and label settings so every point shows the Route's. This is one undoable change.

Edit Several Routes And Tracks

On desktop, select any combination of Routes and Tracks, then open Properties....

— Multiple — means the selected items do not currently share one Activity, source, or value. Choosing an Activity or custom value applies it to every selected item. Reset and Reset appearance also apply to the full selection as one undoable change.

Fields you do not change remain untouched. Changing Activity preserves local custom values; resetting appearance preserves Activity.

Other Route Tools

Edit Mode changes the Route line on the map.
Points Explorer supports point-by-point review.
Profile shows the shape and height profile.
Print is available on desktop for a paper copy of the Route area.
