Folders and Organisation
Folders organise Routes, Tracks, and Waypoints. A folder is storage only: it does not supply Activity or appearance.
Create A Folder
- Open Routes, Tracks & Waypoints.
- Use New Folder.
- Give the folder a short, clear name.
Folder Properties contains folder details and visibility. It does not contain Activity or appearance controls.
Set Activity On Existing Contents
Use Set Activity when the Routes, Tracks, and Waypoints already below a folder should all be the same thing.
- Open the folder's actions.
- Choose Set Activity....
- Choose the Activity they should all use.
- Check the affected counts in the confirmation.
- Choose Apply.
OMN4 includes nested and currently collapsed folders in the count. Deleted items are excluded. Nothing changes until Apply, and the whole operation is one undoable change.
Apply makes everything in scope match the Activity. Any appearance you set on an individual Route, Track, or Waypoint below the folder is cleared, so a Route you had coloured by hand returns to its Activity's colour. The confirmation says so before you commit, and one Undo puts it all back.
Adjust Before Applying
Tick Temporarily adjust appearance before applying to change how these items look without changing the Activity itself.
The editor is a temporary copy of the chosen Activity, with a section for each kind of item in the folder — Route style, Track style, and Waypoint style. Anything you change there is stored on the items you are applying to. The Activity's own defaults, and everything else using that Activity, are untouched. The copy is discarded when the window closes.
To change an Activity's defaults everywhere instead, use Activities.
Waypoint Folder Properties
Folders and Waypoint groups do not own Waypoint appearance. Use Properties for their name, notes, and visibility. Use Set Activity... when you intend to change the Waypoints currently inside them.
Move Items
Use Move... to put a Route, Track, Waypoint group, or folder elsewhere in the library.
- Routes and Tracks keep their Activity and custom appearance because folders do not provide those values.
- Waypoints also keep their Activity and custom appearance.
- Moving an item never changes its Activity.
Sort, Import, And Export
Showing or hiding an item changes whether it appears on the map. It does not delete it or change its Activity.
On desktop, folder actions can include Sort. On mobile, use Sort A-Z or Sort Z-A.
Choose the destination folder before importing GPX. Desktop folders can also offer Import Folder and Export Folder for larger GPX workflows.
