Folders and Organisation
Folders help keep routes, tracks, and waypoints under control as your library grows.
Create Folders
In Routes, Tracks & Waypoints, use New Folder when you want a new container for related data.
Common folder ideas:
- trips by year
- mountain ranges or regions
- event-specific planning
- separate storage for recorded tracklogs
Move And Sort Items
Use Move... to put a route, track, waypoint group, or folder somewhere else in the library.
On desktop, folder actions can include Sort. On mobile, the same sorting choice may appear as Sort A-Z or Sort Z-A.
Show Or Hide Items
Showing or hiding an item changes whether it appears on the map. It does not delete the item from your library.
Useful library-wide actions include:
- Hide all when you want a clear map
- Collapse all when the folder tree is hard to scan
Imports And Exports
Choose the destination folder before importing GPX when you want the imported items to land in a specific place.
On desktop, folders can also use Import Folder and Export Folder for larger GPX workflows. Normal Export GPX is for a selected route, track, waypoint group, or a folder that does not contain sub-folders.
Why Folders Matter
- imports are easier to manage when you choose the right destination folder first
- exported data is easier to find later
- syncing between devices is clearer when your library is tidy
Tips
- Use short, stable folder names.
- Rename default items once you know what they are for.
- Keep recorded tracklogs separate from planned routes if you want a cleaner planning library.
