Waypoints Settings
Each Activity has its own Waypoint appearance. Open Settings > Activities, choose an Activity, then open Waypoint style.
Available Properties
The Waypoint style section contains:
- Symbol
- Symbol size
- Show name on map
- Show comment on map
- Show description on map
- Map text font family
- Map text font size
These seven values sync as part of the selected Activity. A Waypoint can override any of them through Properties.
How Waypoint Appearance Works
Every Waypoint has an Activity. A new Waypoint uses the Activity selected by the tool that creates or imports it, or your Default Activity when no Activity is selected.
In Properties, each value is either From Activity or Custom. OMN4 uses a Custom value when one exists; otherwise it uses Waypoint style from the Waypoint's Activity.
Choose Reset to Activity to remove a Custom value. No symbol is different: it is a Custom symbol choice that deliberately displays no symbol and remains in force until reset.
If a chosen symbol file is temporarily unavailable, OMN4 shows a simple fallback marker instead of hiding the Waypoint. No symbol remains marker-free because it is a deliberate appearance choice, not a missing file.
Moving a Waypoint does not change its Activity or appearance. Folders and Waypoint groups organise points but do not supply appearance values.
Change Several Items
Use a folder or Waypoint group's Set Activity... action to change its current contents together. Choose the Activity those Waypoints should use, review the affected counts, and choose Apply. The complete operation can be undone in one step.
Apply makes every Waypoint in scope match the Activity, so anything you had set on an individual point is cleared. Tick Temporarily adjust appearance before applying if these Waypoints should differ from the Activity: the Waypoint style section there is a temporary copy, and what you change is stored on those points rather than on the Activity.
To edit a handful of points instead, select them in Points Explorer and use Properties (N).... See Folders and Organisation.
Numeric Size Choices
OMN4 offers fixed choices for new size edits:
- Symbol size: 18, 24, 30, 45, 60, or 90
- Map text font size: 10, 12, 16, 20, 24, or 32
Older saved values outside these lists are preserved until you choose a current value or reset the property.
