Windows

OMN4 on Windows works well when you want a large screen, precise mouse control, separate tool windows, and desktop printing.

What's Different On Windows

  • Search, Settings, Routes, Tracks & Waypoints, and Points Explorer can open as separate desktop windows, so you can keep the map visible while you work.
  • Printing is a desktop workflow on Windows, with printer selection and page layout handled before anything is sent to the printer.
  • GPX work can be file-based. On desktop, GPX Import and Export includes Import Folder, Export GPX, and Export All workflows. On mobile, the equivalent export may be presented as Share GPX.
  • A larger screen is useful for route planning, reviewing long tracks, checking print coverage, and comparing map detail.

Windows is often a useful place to prepare work before using OMN4 in the field. You can create or review data on Windows, run sync, then open the same routes, tracks, and waypoints on a mobile device.

Setup And Platform Settings

Install OMN4 using the Windows route supplied by Anquet, then sign in with your Anquet account and let the first sync finish. The install steps are covered in Install on Windows.

Sync brings supported personal data to the device, but offline maps are managed per device. If you want Windows to work without a live connection for a particular area, download that map data in Map Management.

When you expect newly purchased or renewed mapping, start with sign-in, sync, and Map Management refresh checks before deleting map data. Map-update behaviour is covered separately in Map Updates.

What To Watch For

  • Do not assume that offline maps from another device have copied to Windows. Download the areas you need on this device.
  • If map access looks wrong after signing in, check sync and Map Management before removing downloads.
  • If you are preparing a paper copy, review Printing Overview before relying on the output.
  • If you are moving route or track files between apps, use GPX Import and Export rather than treating GPX as a full OMN4 backup.
