iOS
OMN4 on iPhone and iPad is aimed at taking your maps, routes, tracks, and waypoints into the field.
What's Different On iOS
- iOS keeps the app focused on a single mobile map workflow. Tools that open in separate desktop windows are presented as pages on iPhone and iPad.
- GPS, the live GPS marker, and tracklogs are central mobile features.
- Settings > Data controls whether OMN4 can stream maps or download offline maps over the current connection.
- Printing is not the main iOS workflow. Use a desktop platform when you need the full print workflow.
Use iOS when you want OMN4 with you outdoors, especially for checking your position, following planned data, and recording where you went.
Setup And Platform Settings
Install OMN4 through the App Store or TestFlight route supplied by Anquet, then sign in and let the first sync finish. The install flow is covered in Install on iOS.
Allow location access when you first use GPS. If you want tracklogs to continue while OMN4 is in the background, allow iOS location permission Always when OMN4 asks or enable it later in iOS Settings. The practical setup flow is covered in GPS Setup and Tracklog Settings.
For offline use, download the maps you need on the iPhone or iPad itself. Offline map data does not automatically copy from desktop when you sign in. Use Download Maps and Map Management before leaving reliable signal.
What To Watch For
- Test offline maps while you still have a reliable connection.
- Keep OMN4 open while large downloads are being queued or settling, especially before a trip.
- If GPS does not show your position, check iOS location permission before changing OMN4 data or map settings.
- If you need to export data from mobile, the action may be presented as Share GPX rather than the desktop Export GPX wording. See GPX Import and Export.
- iOS can manage background work differently from desktop, so keep tracklogs and downloads simple before relying on them for a long day out.
