Which Coordinate System Should I Use?
Use the one that matches the map, workflow, or person you are sharing with. In the UK, grid references are often useful. For sharing across different apps and devices, latitude/longitude and UTM are often safer choices.
Why Do My Coordinates Look Different From Someone Else's?
The same position can be written in different formats. If two people choose different coordinate systems or different precision settings, the numbers will look different even when they point to the same place.
Does Changing Coordinate Settings Move My Data?
No. Coordinate Systems settings change how positions are displayed and entered. They do not move saved routes, tracks, or waypoints.
Why Are There More Or Fewer Digits Than I Expect?
That usually comes down to Units and Precision. Higher precision shows a more exact location, but it also gives a longer coordinate.
