This glossary explains common OMN4 terms in plain language.

Common Terms

  • Activity Type: A saved style and behaviour profile for routes or tracks, such as walking or cycling.
  • Anquet Cloud: The service OMN4 uses for supported sync between devices.
  • Download: Map data stored on your device for offline use.
  • GPX: A common file format for routes, tracks, and waypoints.
  • Grid Reference: A position written using map grid squares rather than latitude and longitude.
  • Offline Map: A map that has been downloaded to the device and can be used without a live connection.
  • Route: A planned line, often created before a trip.
  • Streaming Map: A map fetched from the internet as you view it.
  • Sync: The process of copying supported user data between your device and the cloud.
  • Track: A recorded line, usually created from GPS movement.
  • Waypoint: A saved single location, such as a summit, gate, or meeting point.
