Sync and Backup

Backup

For most people, the safest backup strategy is:

  1. sign in with your OMN4 account
  2. let sync complete regularly
  3. export important GPX files for an extra copy when needed

What Sync Protects

When sync is working normally, supported cloud data can be recovered on another device after you sign in again.

That usually includes personal items such as:

  • routes
  • tracks
  • waypoints
  • settings
  • activity types
  • supported icon-related data

What Needs Separate Care

You should still treat these separately:

  • downloaded offline maps
  • large local caches
  • any files you want to archive outside OMN4

Best Practice

  • let sync finish before replacing or resetting a device
  • export important trips or libraries to GPX if you want an extra portable copy
  • keep enough free storage for sync and map work to complete cleanly
