Moving from OMN2/3: Questions and Answers

Short answers to the questions we are asked most about moving from OMN2 or OMN3 to OMN4. For the step-by-step import and export instructions, see Moving from OMN2/3.

Do I Have To Move Now?

No. Move across in your own time, one device at a time if that suits you.

Will OMN2 And OMN3 Stop Working?

Not yet. OMN2 and OMN3 keep working, and your subscription still covers them. In time they will be retired. No date has been set, and we will tell you well in advance.

Will OMN2/3 Still Get Map Updates?

No. Ordnance Survey map updates are now released in OMN4 only. OMN2 and OMN3 keep the maps they already have, but new editions appear only in OMN4.

Does OMN4 Cost Anything Or Change My Subscription?

No. Moving to OMN4 does not change your subscription. It is matched to one of the new OMN4 subscriptions and comes with you when you sign in; there is no new subscription to buy. If you have cancelled renewal, you can use OMN4 for the rest of the period you have paid for, and moving does not restart renewal. Should anything about your subscription ever need to change, we will write to you about it in good time, as we always have.

If you still have paid access but OMN4 asks you to choose a plan, check that you have signed in to the right account (see How Do I Sign In?) and contact support before buying another subscription.

How Do I Sign In?

Install OMN4, choose Have an account? Sign in, then Continue with Email, and enter the email address of your Anquet account, the one your OMN2/3 subscription uses. There is no password to remember: we email you a code to type in.

Continue with Apple and Continue with Google also work. If the email address they give us is not the one on your Anquet account (Apple's Hide My Email does this), OMN4 says it did not find an account and offers to link one: choose Link an existing account, enter the email address of your Anquet account and the code we send, and from then on that Apple or Google sign-in opens your account.

I Have Forgotten My OMN2/3 Password. Does That Matter?

Not for OMN4, which has no password (see How Do I Sign In?).

If you still need your OMN2/3 password for a device that is staying on the older app, reset your OMN2 or OMN3 password with a code we email you.

Will My Routes, Tracks And Waypoints Come Across?

Yes, when you ask OMN4 to bring them. First open OMN2/3 on any device where you have added or changed routes, tracks or waypoints and let it finish syncing, so that your latest work is in Anquet Cloud. Then, in OMN4, open Routes, Tracks & Waypoints, open its main menu and choose Import Legacy Data. OMN4 reads what OMN2/3 synced and adds it to a new Legacy Imports folder, dated with the import time. The import runs in the background.

You only need to import once. When it finishes and OMN4 syncs, the imported items appear on your other OMN4 devices too.

Imported routes and tracks may look different, because OMN4 uses its own appearance settings.

See Import From OMN2/3 To OMN4 for the full steps, and If Import Legacy Data Is Missing if you cannot see the option.

Do My Downloaded Maps Come Across?

No. Offline map downloads stay with the app and the device that downloaded them. In OMN4, open Map Management, choose the map and the area, and OMN4 shows the size before it downloads. Large areas take a while, so use Wi-Fi where you can.

Can I Use OMN2/3 And OMN4 At The Same Time?

Yes, if you need to. For example, an older device may not run OMN4.

They do not share data live: anything you change in one app stays there until you import or export it again, and each import or export is a new copy. If you edit the same route in both apps, you then have two versions: pick one to keep working on, or rename them so you can tell them apart. See Avoid Duplicate Versions.

Can I Send Things Back To OMN2/3?

Yes. See Save OMN4 Data Back To OMN2/3.

When Can I Uninstall OMN2/3?

Once you are happy in OMN4 and everything you want to keep is there.

Before you uninstall, open OMN2/3 one last time and let it finish syncing, so that everything on that device has reached Anquet Cloud. Anything still only on the device when you uninstall is lost and cannot be imported into OMN4. If you have added or changed anything in OMN2/3 since you imported, bring those items across before you remove the old app.

Which Devices Can Run OMN4?

The systems OMN4 runs on are listed on the download page.

My Device That Runs OMN2/3 Does Not Run OMN4

That is fine. Keep OMN2 or OMN3 on that device and use OMN4 on the others; see Can I Use OMN2/3 And OMN4 At The Same Time?.

Why Have I Not Received An Invitation Email Yet?

We are inviting people across in small groups, so that we can look after everyone properly as they migrate. The invitation goes to the email address of your Anquet account, so check that mailbox, including its junk folder, rather than a different email account.

You do not need to wait for the email: OMN4 is available now from the download page.

How Do I Get Help?

Inside OMN4, choose Help & Support to read the help pages, open a support ticket, report a problem or suggest an improvement. A ticket from the app is the quickest route, because it tells us which device and version you are using. If you cannot sign in to OMN4, see Contact Support.

Where Can I Download OMN2 Or OMN3?

See Legacy OMN2 & OMN3.

Where Is The Old OMN2/3 Help?

See Legacy OMN2 & OMN3.
